A WooCommerce order's billing email and its customer association are different fields. Correcting where an order email should go is not the same task as moving that order to another account. Decide which problem you are solving before editing customer records or sending another payment link.
Identify the requested change
Ask whether the customer needs a receipt at a corrected address, access to a purchase in My Account, or a change to their account profile. These requests can involve different records and different authorization checks.
Never transfer an order solely because someone can name its total or supply an email address. Use the store's established identity-verification process. Reassignment can expose purchase history and access-bearing links to a different person.
Inspect the order fields separately
WooCommerce's order-editing reference documents a customer selector and separate editable billing fields, including email. It also provides an explicit order Update action. Do not infer that editing one field synchronizes every other customer record or external integration.

Make the smallest authorized correction
For an order-email correction, record the approved request privately, edit only the relevant billing email and save the order. Reopen it to confirm the value. Review the exact message that will be sent before using an order action.
For a customer association change, first identify the correct existing account. Similar display names are not enough. Rehearse unusual guest-to-account or membership cases on staging, because extensions can maintain their own entitlements and subscriptions.
Do not change the order status, payment method or transaction reference just to make a customer record look consistent. Those fields describe different events. Also avoid automatically rewriting all historical orders when the user asked to fix one message.
Test both access and communication
Use a staff-controlled scenario to verify what the intended account can see. A corrected email is not proof that an order appears in My Account. Conversely, order access is not proof that a transactional email reached the new mailbox.
If an unpaid order's payment link still fails, follow the customer-account payment-link checks. Do not bypass ownership checks or repeatedly send a sensitive order URL to test accounts.
Record the fields changed and the downstream systems checked. If the CRM or membership tool kept the old address, investigate its synchronization contract rather than making another unrelated order edit.
Ask HandL WP to reconcile the affected order and account when access, notifications and external records disagree. Keep customer addresses and order links in the authorized support channel, not in public screenshots.
