Ad tracking (C4a)

Google tag stack (GTM / GA4)

What this check means

This guide helps you act on one scan finding. It is not legal advice or a compliance verdict.

What to fix

Load a single clean Google tag stack (GTM and/or GA4) on the scanned page — no duplicate containers.

Step-by-step fix

  1. Search the page source for GTM- and G- IDs. Keep one intentional container or GA4 tag.
  2. Remove duplicates from the theme header, old plugins (MonsterInsights + Site Kit + hard-coded snippet), and a second GTM plugin.
  3. Publish GTM / clear caches.
  4. Verify in Tag Assistant or the network tab that the container loads once.

Choose the path for your setup

  • GTM via plugin

Prefer one injection method: either a GTM plugin or theme code — not both.

Confirm it is fixed

Re-scan and confirm C4a shows the expected Google tag signature once.
